About The Role

Job title: Assistant Practitioner

Salary: Competitive

Hours: 22.5hrs or 37.5hrs per week

Location: Jarvis Centre, Surrey

You will work as part of the mammographic multi-disciplinary team, undertaking screening and assessment radiographic imaging across a full range of mobile and static sites. 

 

The post holder will carry out screening mammography in accordance with the NHS Breast Screening Program and perform the full range of imaging techniques (to include additional views and tomosynthesis) during assessment clinics at the static site.


What you are responsible for:
  • To undertake radiographic duties associated with the provision of a high quality breast screening service within the department and on the mobile screening units in a caring and professional manner
  • Process client information and use PC to input clinical details accurately on the NHSBSP database.
  • To maintain high standards of care through the appropriate use of interpersonal skills and knowledge and the ability to adapt technique to cater for clients with a range of needs.
  • To perform imaging techniques (to include tomosynthesis and additional views), for which adequate training has been given to a consistently high standard.
  • Observe and adhere to all relevant quality control tests and checks to include Ultrasound quality assurance.
  • Conduct self and peer review of mammography examinations (10 per month) using the Image Assessment Tool (IAT).
  • To attend all mandatory training as directed by InHealth.
  • To work in accordance with IRR99 and IR(MER) 2000 regulations.
  • Observe health and safety, and risk management standards and policies, and report all incidents promptly.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has highly developed communication skills
  • Has good judgement skills
  • Sensitive to the needs of the client age group and needs to include clients in assessment clinics and in a highly anxious state.
  • Has commitment to CPD
  • Is motivated and enthusiastic
  • Be flexible to the needs and working hours of the service, to include travelling to a range of screening sites.
  • Be empathetic to the needs of clients using the service. 
  • Actively participate in QA, specifically Ultrasound and tormam under the guidance of the QA superintendent.

You should apply if you have the below experience:

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety and IR(ME)R Regulations
  • Understanding of confidentiality and the Data Protection Act / PIAG
  • Understanding of cleanliness and Infection Control Procedures
  • Experience working in a customer facing role
  • Using Microsoft packages and other IT systems
  • Working as part of a team but also independently
  • Data protection and confidentiality laws
  • Foundation degree in breast imaging or equivalent.

  • Current full driving licence and car owner

For eligible* roles (which includes this one), we offer an additional payment of £10 per hour, up to a maximum of £50 per day, for each weekend day worked. This is paid monthly in arrears.

*This includes colleagues delivering face to face patient care in the Targeted Lung Health Check mobile units, Endoscopy, AAA Screening, Breast Screening, PET-CT, Audiology, Mobiles, Imaging Centres and CDC’s. Note that this payment is not applicable to clinical staff working within the Echocardiography division, or Diabetic Eye Screening. The Weekend Payment does not apply to those on a flexible working agreement and part time workers that have requested to work weekend hours/days as part of their working agreement. The Weekend Payment also doesn’t apply to those who are working remotely or carrying out administrative work from home.
