Location: Jarvis Centre, Guildford / Surrey & NE Hants

Are you an experienced Mammographer looking for a flexible opportunity to work with the National Breast Screening Programme?

We’re currently recruiting for a Bank Mammographer to join our Breast Screening team based at the Jarvis Centre in Guildford, Surrey. This flexible, ad-hoc role allows you to work as and when suits you, giving you the freedom to manage your own schedule. Breast screening services for women in Surrey and NE Hants are provided across a fleet of 5 mobile vans, with additional capacity at the Jarvis Centre. The Assessment Clinics at the Jarvis Centre are staffed by a dedicated multi-disciplinary team including Consultant Radiologists, Associate Breast Clinicians, Advanced Practitioners, Mammographers, Assistant Practitioners, and clinical and administration staff, all adhering to the NHSBSP principles of triple assessment – mammography, ultrasound, clinical examination, and needle biopsy.

What Does the Role Involve?

As a Bank Mammographer at InHealth, you’ll play a key role in providing high-quality breast screening services, conducting mammograms, and supporting patients through their journey. You’ll participate in assessment clinics, including stereotactic biopsies, and assist in mentoring Assistant Practitioners, all while enjoying the flexibility of a bank role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take high-quality mammograms to screen women for breast cancer.
  • Participate in the unit’s Quality Assurance Programme, taking remedial action when needed.
  • Mentor Assistant Practitioners and assist in their professional development.
  • Perform additional views of the breast during Assessment Clinics.
  • Support biopsy procedures, including stereotactic examinations.
  • Join a rota to cover work on mobile screening sites across Surrey & NE Hants.
  • Ensure mobile sites are adequately stocked and coordinate transportation when necessary.
  • Stay up-to-date with current trends and techniques in mammography to provide expert guidance on breast health.
  • Provide compassionate support to nervous or anxious patients.
  • Maintain a current CPD portfolio and adhere to Ionising Radiation Regulations.

What We’re Looking For:

  • BSc in Radiography.
  • PG Cert in Mammography.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with a diverse range of clients.
  • The ability to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the overall success of the breast screening service.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and staying up-to-date with the latest breast imaging techniques and practices.
